Exploded Wii-mote Hoodie

Exploded Wii-mote HoodieI have to agree with Andy, who writes the wonderful HideYourArms blog: exploded hardware designs are hot. That’s hot like - the - graphics - card - needed - to - play - Crysis hot, not hot like - your - mom - hot. This awesome hoodie will cost you $45 from WireAndTwine.com and, frankly, worth every coin casually loitering about Mario 3. Now if they just had an exploded nun chuck for the right side… Even without the other peripheral, however, the hoodie still makes other Wii-themed merchandise - like the Gaming Glove seem positively lame.

Hats for Those Ashamed of their iPods

Tooks: Hats that HearSo the Militant Geek has a pretty decent head of hair and likes to show it off before he becomes follicly challenged. However, he does realize that other geeks may not be quite as lucky to have such a coiffed comb over keeping their brains cozy on winter excursions for caffeine and Doritos. In such cases Tooks, or ‘Hats You Can Hear’, might come in handy.

Granted, the reason people like showing off their white iPod earbuds is the sense of aesthetic superiority they feel over their plebeian, non-Jobs worshipping acquaintances. And, unfortunately, the earbuds go inside these hats - rendering their white design purity moot. So why am I even bringing these $25 mp3 player accessories up? Because, just between me and your browser history, I can tell you’re not a douche.

However, I am a little concerned about the compulsive Perez Hilton refreshes…

Casio SK-1 Tee for Music Geeks

Casio SK-1 TShirtMost geeks have a hardcore gadget fetish. Combine geekdom with an insatiable need for electronic music, however, and you’ve got lust of Japanese otaku proportions.

A few weeks ago we briefly highlighted the NoDemo guys during our Etsy week. Today, we’ve got another great design featuring one of those gadgets of geek musician obsessions - the Casio SK-1. No Demo shirts are hand printed on ring spun cotton t’s - meaning that they’re incredibly comfortable. And this design will run you $15.

Defrag TShirt and Multiple Store Strategies

Defrag TShirtIn the second of our Split Reason double header to open the week we have this lovely Defragmentation T-Shirt. Like most Split Reason shirts this one will run you between $18.95 and $19.95. Also of note is that this shirt is on Amazon. Like many of the more successful niche creators the guys at Split Reason have realized that just having a kickass site is not enough - they make it a point to get their designs in front of as many people across as many stores as possible. Is that more work for the tshirt manufacturers? Absolutely. But taking time to add their inventory to a site like Amazon means that people can now add it to their wish list, keep their credit card info with trusted partners, combine the order with other holiday shopping to save on shipping, etc.

It’s a nice touch in an age of fragmented storefronts.

Superplug Geek Tee

Superplug ShirtSo there I was trying to explain to the very stern looking firemarshall why there were more than a half dozen power strips daisy chained together behind my entertainment center. “Don’t you know what a fire hazard this is,” his voice rising in faux authority. “DON’T YOU KNOW WHAT KIND OF JEOPARDY YOU’RE PUTTING YOUR FAMILY IN!

“But,” I replied, unblinking, “I’m a geek.”

And, chances are if you’re reading this, so are you which is why today I’m highlighting mashPOTATO’s Super Plug TShirt. It’s perfect for anyone who looks the dangers of circuit overloading in the eye and goes “meh”. Buy right now and the superplug can be yours for the sale price of $11.

Props to the T-Shirts Around the Internet Blog for the spot.

TShirt Cannon How To

On MilitantGeek we not only cover a lot of TShirts - we also own a crazy ton. Unfortunately, there are only so many hours within a week that we can wear the spoils of conspicuous consumption. For all those shirts which don’t quite make the cut may I suggest a T-Shirt cannon.

As seen on BoingBoing Bre Pettis of Make’s Weekend Projects has a tutorial on how to make one. Like many geek projects worth doing, the ubiquitous PVC is involved.

Hardware Hoodie from Cell Dvsn

Hardware Hoodie ImageWhile TShirts are the usual stock and tirade of MilitantGeek every once in awhile a design is so good we can’t help but mention it. A bit of warning however - this style comes at a price; 99 British pounds, to be exact. With the diminished purchasing power of US currency that means that this collection of all things collectible will cost $493 (or something like that). However, it still costs tremendously less to wear all that coveted gear as opposed to actually owning it.

The Hardware Hoodie can be bought at Dadawan.com. Special thanks to HideYourArms.com for the heads up.

Etsy Week: Piracy Boombox

Boombox and Bones Piracy TShirtAll this week on MilitantGeek we’re scouring the hand-crafted depths of Etsy, a fantastic outlet of unique wonders. While there is a ton of stuff that either isn’t relevant (or just plain ugly) the diligent geek can discover some wonderful treasures to be worn. Here is one of them!

Sadly, our Etsy week has come to an end. Last, but certainly not least, is a delightfully anarchistic Boombox ‘n Bones shirt from RiotGrrrlInk. Equal parts jolly roger and mobile party, the design is wonderfully appropriate in this day and age when piracy runs rampant, major recording artists are ditching their labels (NIN, Radiohead, etc.), and music is more popular than ever.

Shirts start at $14.99 and supplies are extremely limited.
